Identec mini reader for "true" contactless cards. EC1 is typically used in installations where a loop reader is not needed. Identec's Census readers use active cards/tags and are distinguished by the fact that they can read multiple cards at a time. The reading speed is a maximum of 55 cards per second. The RF communication between card and reader is encrypted to exclude misreading and increase security. The error rate is less than 1:1,000,000. When using a loop reader with an external antenna, the reading distance can be increased to 3 meters. The reader is supplied with various outputs. Cards and tags have an indication for low battery voltage.
