NOX and SIMS

Helsingborg Hospital

A system that is open yet powerful enough to meet all of the hospital’s requirements.

Helsingborg Hospital has been undergoing renovation since 2015, a project that has also included a transition to the combined burglar alarm and access control system NOX, supplied by ARAS Security.

For Region Skåne, it was important to have a system that was open yet powerful enough to meet all of the hospital’s requirements.

“We chose NOX because we wanted an open system that had the capacity to build large facilities. The system is very flexible, and we have been able to influence its development, which was a prerequisite from the beginning,” says Tord Johansson, operations specialist at Regionservice.

Integrated with building functions

ARAS Security continues its work with digitalization at the hospital, and together with the company Swedsecur, integrations have been developed between NOX and the hospital’s pneumatic tube system, waste and laundry facilities. Later this year, integration with the elevator system will begin.

“The development work at the hospital is about streamlining operations and making it easier for staff to carry out their work, while at the same time increasing security. In some cases, this means that we will develop new applications or integrations, which we have done with ARAS Security, who supplies security technology. We will see more of this way of working in the future, but it requires open systems and skilled developers,” says Magnus Berndtsson, Project Manager at Swedsecur.

Efficiency is a key word

One-time codes increase security

One-time codes for card readers

ARAS and Swedsecur have also delivered a solution with one-time codes for the hospital’s card readers. This idea was born out of a real problem, as staff previously had to escort and open doors for visitors and patients who needed to move from one department to another. The solution was a web application developed by ARAS Security, where staff can easily create codes tailored to the visitor’s destination.

“We have really had to demonstrate the power of NOX as an open system, and the strength of developing integrations and other technical solutions ourselves for our customers. We prefer to start from the customer’s needs rather than the system’s technical constraints. This ensures that our development is relevant, and the end result is always better. Both Region Skåne and Swedsecur have challenged us in a positive way, and I feel that everyone is satisfied so far,” says Victor Siösteen, Managing Director of ARAS Security Sweden.

The solution includes

At the hospital, NOX is installed in both old and new buildings together with card readers, SmartIntego wireless doors on medicine cabinets, and wireless cylinders on medicine carts.

On NOX’s central platform, SIMS, all users are gathered along with floor plans of the hospital, from where alarms and the access control system can be managed.
